Congratulations to the 2026 Endoscopic Training Award Recipients
Alda Andrade, MD, Portugal, currently at the Unidade Local de Saúde do Alto Minho – Viana do Castelo, will travel to the Center for Diagnostic and Therapeutic Endoscopy at Keio University School of Medicine in Tokyo, Japan, to train with Motohiko Kato, MD, PhD, FASGE. Her training will focus on advanced clinical techniques in diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy, including expert procedural workflows, case selection, procedural strategy, complication management, and quality assurance within the specialized endoscopy program at Keio University Hospital.
Madhav Desai, MD, MPH,Houston, TX, currently at the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition, UT Health McGovern Medical School, will travel to the Digestive Diseases Center at Showa University Koto Toyosu Hospital in Tokyo, Japan, to train with Haruhiro Inoue, MD, PhD, FJGES, FASGE. His training will focus on advanced endoscopic procedures, including endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) and peroral endoscopic myotomy (POEM).
Brenton Davis, MD,San Francisco, CA, currently at Kaiser Permanente San Francisco Medical Center – Gastroenterology, will travel to the National Cancer Center Japan to train with Yutaka Saito, MD, PhD, FASGE. He will gain advanced exposure to diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy through observation and simulation training at the National Cancer Center Hospital, focusing on techniques such as ESD, EMR, ERCP, and EUS guided biliary drainage, as well as optical diagnosis of early GI neoplasia and multidisciplinary oncologic care, to prepare for independent practice in advanced endoscopy.
