This is an interim analysis of an ongoing randomized controlled study in 8 countries to investigate whether patients with high-risk adenomas can safely have their first follow-up colonoscopy at 5 rather than 3 years. Current U.S. recommendations suggest a 3-year follow-up for advanced adenomas or 5 to 10 nonadvanced adenomas, and 3 to 5 years for 3 to 4 nonadvanced adenomas.

Researchers analyzed 10 years of data from 13 centers to determine the risk of local recurrence after colorectal endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD). The study reports recurrence rates, risk factors, and whether the findings support a recommendation for first surveillance colonoscopy at 12 months.

Although laterally spreading tumor (LST) classification is widely used, its validity has never been formally evaluated. To assess interobserver and intraobserver agreement, 24 experts in LST resection reviewed videos of large (≥20 mm) LST resections and classified the tumors by morphology.

Postendoscopy upper GI cancer (PEUGIC) is a malignancy diagnosed 6 to 36 months after a negative index upper endoscopy, whereas detected upper GI cancer (UGIC) is defined as occurring in patients who had not undergone endoscopy in the 6 to 36 months before diagnosis. This study compared survival between PEUGIC and UGIC.
